‘MOTHERS MILK IS BEST FOR YOUR BABY’
No formula milk can substitute for breastfeeding. But, you may need to start formula feeding your baby in some unavoidable situations. There is plenty of formula milk available in the market. In this post, we will be discussing two common formulas available in the market- Dexolac, and Lactogen.
lactogen 1 is a brand from Nestle, a Swiss multinational company. It is one of the most popular and economical brands available in the market.
Dexolac 1 is a brand from Nutricia, which is owned by Danone, a French multinational company. It is also a popular and economical brand.
COMPARISON OF NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF 1000ML PREPARED FORMULA AND HUMAN MILK

1. MACRONUTRIENTS
Both of the formula offers similar macronutrient values. But the whey: casein ratio in lactogen 1 is similar to breast milk( more whey protein). In contrast, dexolac contains more casein ( digestion difficult).
2. ELECTROLYTES
DEXOLAC1 has a higher quantity of calcium, phosphorus, and chloride than LACTOGEN1.
Human milk has less amount of zinc, and iron which is sufficient in both these formulas(better in dexolac).
The manganese content is significantly high in both formulas in comparison to breast milk( I don’t know why).
Sodium and potassium content in Lactogen 1 is lower than Dexolac 1, but it is favorable for babies. Because infants’ kidneys are not mature enough to handle high sodium and potassium in the diet. You should know that human milk also has less sodium and potassium than cow milk or most formula milk.
3. MICRONUTRIENTS
Almost all vitamins (&other nutrients) are higher in DEXOLAC 1 except VIT B5.
PROBIOTIC is given in LACTOGEN1( missing in dexolac).

5. DIGESTION AND TASTE
LACTOGEN1 is better in taste and digestibility ( due to its low casein content).
FINAL VERDICT:
Both of these formulas are good. If we look at quantity, most of the nutrients are higher in DEXOLAC 1. But LACTOGEN1 composition is more close to human milk. Also, it has better digestion and taste. You should note that- almost all nutrients are present in sufficient quantity in each formula when we compare them with breast milk. I would vote for lactogen 1 for its better digestibility and taste.
