‘MOTHERS MILK IS BEST FOR YOUR BABY’
No formula milk( even the premium ones), can be compared with breast milk.
But sometime you may need to feed your baby with formula milk. Here we compare the two most popular formula milk in our country, Lactogen 1 & Similac 1.
lactogen 1 is a brand from Nestle, a Swiss multinational company. It is one of the most popular and economical brands available in the market.
Similac 1 is from Abbott, an American multinational company. It is also a well-known brand in our country.
Both of these formulas are in similar price ranges. In this post, we are discussing the composition of these formulas and their differences.
COMPARISON OF NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF 1000ML PREPARED FORMULA AND HUMAN MILK

1. MACRONUTRIENTS
The point to note here is that the Whey casein ratio is 65:35 in lactogen 1(similar to breast milk). Also, both formulas lack nucleotides ( provides immunity, and good gut health), DHA & Arachidonic acid(for brain development and vision).
2. MINERALS
Calcium, phosphorus, copper, selenium zinc, and iron are higher in SIMILAC. LACTOGEN has higher iodine & magnesium.
3. VITAMINS & OTHERS
Higher Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Vit K, Vitamin B1, B2, B9, B7, and B12 are present in Similac 1.
Lactogen 1 has higher Vitamin B3 & B5. Probiotic(L . reuteri) is present only in Lactogen.
PALATABILITY AND DIGESTIBILITY
From my experience Similac 1 and lactogen 1, both are pleasant tasting and easily digestible.
PRICE
LACTOGEN 1 (440/-) is more or less 20% cheaper than SIMILAC 1(555/-)
VERDICT– As you can see some points are in favor of Lactogen and some are in for Similac. You may choose any brand, both are good. I personally do not endorse any brand and I don’t like formula feeding.
