Abbott is one of the major players in the Indian formula milk market. It has multiple brands in different price ranges. In this post, we will be comparing two of its premium brands- Similac Plus 1 & Similac Advance 1.
SIMILAC PLUS 1
SIMILAC ADVANCE 1
COMPARISON OF NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF 1000ML SIMILAC PLUS 1 & SIMILAC ADVANCE 1
(*Green color denotes a significantly higher amount in comparison to competitor brand)
1. MACRONUTRIENTS
As you can see, most nutrients are more or less similar in both Similac Plus & Advance, except for a few things which are represented only in Similac Plus 1.
- It contains DHA & Arachidonic acid-AA(which helps in the growth of the nervous system and vision ).
- Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are the third most represented component in breast milk. They serve as prebiotics, protect against severe illnesses like necrotizing enterocolitis, help in immune system maturation, reduce allergies and autoimmune diseases, and promote brain development & gut barrier maturation.2’FUCOSYLLACTOSE(2’FL) is an HMO present in Similac Plus 1.
- FOS– works as a prebiotic.
- lutein – improves eye function.
2. ELECTROLYTES/MINERALS
There is no significant difference in this category.
3. MICRONUTRIENTS/ VITAMINS
Almost a similar amount in both products.
4. DIGESTION & TASTE
Both formulas taste good & easy to digest.
5. COST( 400 gm pack)-
Similac Plus 1- 760/-
Similac Advance 1 – 775/-
Similac Plus has more nutritional elements than Similac Advance. Also, it costs less. So, the better choice would be Similac Plus 1.
Personally, I don’t like any formula milk.
